Bare-earth LiDAR hillshade in surveyed parts of Victoria.
What it shows
Shaded relief built from Victorian bare-earth LiDAR, at half a metre and one metre. Coverage is incomplete, including in the Golden Triangle; some areas have no LiDAR. Trees and buildings are stripped away, so it shows the ground itself: old workings, sluiced gullies, races, puddling pits, dam walls and creek lines that no ordinary map shows. Over the Golden Triangle it reads the diggings the rushes left behind. Read it to find where ground has been worked before and to follow the lie of the land into new country.
