What it shows
A heat map built from the Western Australia gold-occurrence points (the MINEDEX dataset). It colours the ground by how densely recorded gold clusters, and each point counts for more the more significant it is, so a working mine weighs heavier than a bare occurrence. The density is sorted into six bands, and the brightest cores are the worked districts, like Kalgoorlie and the Eastern Goldfields, where gold has been found again and again. Read it to spot productive ground, then turn on the gold-occurrence points to see the individual finds. This is a guide to where gold has been recorded, not a promise of gold today.
