What it shows
Recorded gold occurrences across Western Australia, from the MINEDEX mine-site dataset (Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety), filtered to sites where gold is the target commodity, with the mine roads, buildings, airstrips and pipelines the same dataset carries left out. Each point is a place gold has been recorded, marked as a mine, deposit, prospect or occurrence. Tap a point for its name, commodity, deposit type, status and size, and filter by what was done to the ground: scraping-detecting and dryblowing areas, dumps, surface workings, open pits, underground and drilling. There are tens of thousands of points, so this is the densest record of past finds in the state. These are historical records, not a promise of gold in the ground today, but they map where gold has been found before. Use them to scout ground, then check the land-access rules before you detect.
