Western Australia's finer 1:100,000 geology map sheets.
What it shows
The official Western Australian 1:100,000 geological-series map sheets, from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety, stitched into one seamless image. This is the finest published survey cartography, showing the rock units and structures closer up than the 1:250,000 mosaic. The 1:100,000 series is mapped only where those sheets exist, mainly the exposed goldfields country, so this layer does not cover the whole state: where no 1:100,000 sheet has been made, the map reads through as blank, and the statewide 1:250,000 mosaic fills that ground. It is a picture map, so it is look-only: tapping, recolouring and filtering are not available, and there are no separate fault or contact lines to pick out. Read geology first, as it shows why gold sits where it does. Use it to read a known area in the most detail, and fall back to the 1:250,000 mosaic or the tappable national geology where the finer sheets run out.
