What it shows
Shaded relief built from Tasmanian bare-earth LiDAR surveys from right across the island, at one and two metres, and at half a metre where that was flown. Trees and buildings are stripped away, so it shows the ground itself: old workings, sluiced gullies, races, tracks, terraces and creek lines that no ordinary map shows. The detail holds as you zoom in, and the look can be changed to suit the ground. Read it to find where ground has been worked before and to follow the lie of the land into new country. Where no LiDAR was flown the layer is blank rather than coarse, so everything drawn is detail a survey actually captured. Elevation data © State of Tasmania (the LIST), CC BY 3.0 AU.
