What it shows
Burnt ground across South Australia, from the national fire record kept by Geoscience Australia. Fire older than about five years is left out across this whole family, because the country grows back and a scar that old no longer marks ground worth walking. That leaves a narrow slice here: the national record has nothing for South Australia after May 2023, so this layer covers 2021 to mid-2023 and every scar in it reads as older ground. Each year can be shown or hidden on its own. A burn opens the country for years in the drier north, so a scar from this period can still be worth walking, but recently burnt ground is missing rather than absent. Fires under 10 hectares are left out.
