What it shows
Burnt ground across the Northern Territory, from the national fire record kept by Geoscience Australia, covering the last three years. Each fire is shaded by the year it burnt, newest in a hot orange through to the oldest in a pale ash, and each year can be shown or hidden on its own. Savanna country burns often and on a large scale, so the map reads as a mosaic of overlapping seasons rather than a few isolated scars. The national record stops in August 2025, so the freshest ground here is about a year old rather than current. Deeper Territory fire mapping exists but is not published on terms that allow it to be included. Fires under 10 hectares are left out.

This comes from the national fire record, which only covers the Territory from 2020 and stops in August 2025, so there is no older history here and nothing from the last year. Boundaries are mapped after the fire and edges are approximate, and fires under 10 hectares are left out.
